Moving, it happens.

Slowly though, due to combined factors of super hot outside + omg it's filthy let's clean that + who's ready to actually do work? + FUCK sudden monsoon rains + who has a car? + oh wow I feel like crap + oh hay, we have no furniture let's get some.
But progress has been made. The living room, my room, and Andres's room all get shiny seals of Rachel-has-cleaned-this-personally approval. And, amazingly, so does the bathroom--a fact that makes me feel truly accomplished because it was *nasty* beforehand and I spent two days scrubbing it squeaky clean. Yay~!
I also basically have all the furniture I'm going to need, half of which came from Goodwill, half of which I've inherited from Andres. The only new thing I have is a futon--the crappiest and cheapest futon on the market. It bows when I lay in it, and Andres can make it lean backwards when it's folded as a sofa. But I don't care. It's new, it's a functional bed, and it's mine.
The only big steps remaining are to get a Uhaul to transport some desks and the couches that Matt bought, and to clean the kitchen. (oh god not to mention cleaning our current apartment, but that should be easier and turn into a day job once everything is cleared out.) We also are getting an inspector to come make sure we don't have termites at the new place, and we might have to get the house fumigated if it turns out we do. But aside from that, the list of tasks is shrinking. It's surreal, the first time I've moved slowly and gradually, actually incorporating furniture and cleaning and all that, since my parents bought their current house when I was 12. For the past 5 years or so, "moving" has meant stuffing a suitcase or two with whatever will fit and donating or dumping the rest.
Both the apartment and Alley House seem like "home" in equal standing at this point, with the only difference that Alley House doesn't really have a functional kitchen yet. But fixing that is my goal for tomorrow.
