I'm still sick. Or at least, my head is still spinning and my muscles still ache and I still feel like crap, but I had some energy today. My family was gonna take a trip to the Peabody Essex Museum, but we didn't really get an early start, so mom suggested, somewhat randomly, that we go to Harvard Square for dinner. That struck me a little dull, so I suggested Chinatown instead..and everyone was like sure! ...So we went. Instead of taking the Orange Line to Chinatown, we walked from Downtown crossing, which made me very happy, because it only contributed to my mental map. Everything is sickeningly close together. o_o
Anyway, in Chinatown mom wanted to look into all the little shops...but when it came to dinner, the place I'd been thinking of looked hideously filthy, and we weren't sure where else to go. That was when Isaac declared, "I want french fries!", so we decided to walk back to Quincy Market and get dinner there. On the way back, there was this guy walking down the road with something enormous strapped to his back. Upon closer inspection, it was a white cross with black sash around it--he was a Wolfwood cosplayer! Since he was black it didn't occur to me immediately, but once I caught on I couldn't help grinning like an idiot. He saw my expression and cracked a grin of his own, and said, "Yeah! You recognized it, didn't you?" "Yea!" I replied, and kept walking, smirking for probably the next ten minutes afterwards. I wonder why he was cosplaying? I wasn't aware of any convention...maybe he was doing it on general principle, just to see who noticed. That straddles the fine line between being totally awesome and totally lame, but in his case I'd say it'd have to be awesome, just because.
Anyway, at Quincy Market, after dinner, we were looking through the kiosks when I saw the perfect backpack. It was a little bigger than my old mini-backpack, and had many pouches and pockets on teh outside that could be latched by buttons made from oriental coins. It was decorated by various colored turtle prints seemingly swimming against a blueish background. I loved it the moment I saw it, probably because I've been needing a replacement for my old mini-backpack for awhile. (The straps are starting to rip...) Anyway, I bought the turtle backpack, and it's simply perfect, since it's bigger than my old one, and will hopefully last longer...<3
For some reason I still had the energy to walk back to Park Street. My health is so fickle, but it was forgiving today, and I'm grateful. It's so strange because I've recently been visiting such places as Faneuil Hall and Washington Street so recently that they seem almost familiar. It's strange to be so accquainted with the city, and yet at the same time, it's quite comforting. I like the feeling of looking up at the looming skyscrapers and finding them familiar.

Yeah.
