Haiburiido
Jul. 24th, 2008 07:58 pmToday was a TERRIBLE day. I got soaked twice and I feel all gross and sick. This evening marks the beginning of a four day weekend, but unfortunately I am not free to do with it what I would like as my family is carting down to New Jersey tomorrow morning.
I found my old shortwave radio, and have been playing with it. Finding stations in lots of random languages always puts me in a good mood. I listened to a news broadcast out of Colombia for awhile, then kept surfing and found a Japanese channel. It doesn't come in so well, but it still fills me with wonder that the sound is coming all the way from Japan. I'm not sure why talking to someone on the internet from Japan doesn't wow me, but hearing their voices on my radio does.
I can't really understand anything, but I think they're talking about hybrid cars because I keep hearing "haiburiido". Unless that's like...a word for something else.
They are also speaking extraordinarily slow. I wonder if it's on purpose because they're on shortwave radio.
