arrowwhiskers: (tribble boobies!)
When I signed up for my new shift hours, I specifically did NOT take a shift on Tuesday nights because it would conflict with the Tucson Tuesday night community bike ride which I have been desperately wanting to go on ever since I was informed about it by a friendly employee at the rock gym. So, I thought today would be a good day to try it for the first time.

However, my front wheel has been bumping ever since I got the front tube replaced, and it's been just about the recommended 30 days since I bought my bike after which I may receive a free tuneup. So I brought my bike to the shop, thinking they might keep it for a few hours, but it turns out they want it overnight.

D: D: D: Awwwwwweeee man. So there goes the community ride idea, for this week at least. That's okay though. I'm mostly just sort of bemused by how naked and helpless I feel now that I am bikeless. I hope they fix it before 4 tomorrow, since I have to go to work at 4.30 and my shift ends after the shuttle stops running and I bet the bike shop closes before then. There are other services for getting back home but...I hope I can get my bike back. On the bright side, even if I don't get it back til Thursday, hopefully it'll ride really smoothly. <3 I've learnt not to expect much from this bike shop though, unfortunately--everytime I bring it in for something they seem to create a new problem. But at least they are friendly. And convenient enough to get to.

In other news, to celebrate my employment I went to the bookstore and splurged on a copy of The World is Flat. My mom had a copy and I'd started to read it back at home, but when I was leaving she was still working on it so I left it with her. It is absolutely amazing, it brings together all sorts of factors in globalization (and world issues!) and even back when it was first published the author was already saying things that are becoming common doctrine today--about the importance of renewable resources, and lifestyle sustainability.

So guess what I'm reading instead of my meteorology textbook? :D I reiterate the whole fail-as-a-student thing. Yay.
