Spanishy tomfoolery
Oct. 22nd, 2008 10:54 pmSo today in Spanish class we had to perform little skits, and we were given a couple choices as to what they could be about. The one we chose was about family therapy, and as I was the only girl in the group, I was the wife, having trouble with my jealous husband. Except the guy who was playing him fucked up the line, so it went something like this:
Terepeuta: Cómo han estado las relaciones entre ustedes?
Mi esposo: ¡No han estado bien! ¡Ella ha visitado mi hermana de una manera inapropiada!! (debió decir hermano)
*todos se echan a reír*
(basically, he accused me of being lesbionic with his sister)
The entire class totally cracked up, myself included, I was laughing so hard I could barely say the next line. It was pretty amazing.
And at work, two of my coworkers were chatting in Spanish, and I could only understand a little of it, but then again they were standing right next to the radio... And then they had an argument about how to say pickles in Spanish...Genesis was like "it's los píquels!" and Tino was all "noooooo it's not, gtfo. I can't remember what it is but it aint that", until finally he Googled it on his crazy internet phone. I don't remember what they said it was, but I did learn that cucumber is pepino, y turkey is pavo. :3
The rest of today was exhausting and not particularly noteworthy. One of my other friends from work told me that there IS an anime club here...it's just not official yet since they're still ironing out the bureaucracy. She said that next week there's going to be games for Halloween--including chopstick relays with candy corn! Doesn't that sound fun? I wanna go, except that's the day before my huge research paper is due. Blar.
Oh man. I am really torn, since I am craving AIM time like crazy, but I can't even believe how much more focused I am without it. One day, I'll have free time again. I have to believe it...
