Today was pretty coo'. =) I didn't get to go climbing, but it was awesome anyway since while I was waiting to find out when/if climbing might be happening, I texted Jorell and asked him to show me how to make my crochetting less fail. While I was waiting for him, I browsed the Friday farmer's market on University and bought a tomato, a cucumber, a clove of garlic (forgetting that I have no pan to fry it in), and limes! <3 It's incredible that stuff is so fresh in December, it's like the prime greenhouse growing season in Mexico and Arizona, apparently. :D

When Jorell showed up we spent several hours in Starbucks crochetting--he showed me how to do a single and a double stitch, and now I've started a new project...I've become such a crafts nerd recently, and I have no idea why, but it's so fun. <3

After awhile I decided to go down to the co-op and get some cheese to go with my vegetables, and I asked Jorell to come with me, which he did :) The walk to 4th was really pleasant...it's like gorgeous "fall" weather right about now... And at the co-op, along with cheese, I got some locally grown apples, a couple bananas, and peanut butter. <3 I hadn't noticed, but the co-op has a grinder so you can make your own peanut butter, *and* it's cheaper than buying it in a jar! I haven't bought peanut butter in a really long time, since non-hydrogenated stuff is so expensive, but this is perfect. Besides, self-ground peanut butter is better anyway! The co-op also makes you buy the plastic tupperware you buy it in, with the idea being that once you buy it, you can bring it back and use it again as much as you want, and recycle. <3 That's such a good idea. :) It's been way too long since I last shopped at the co-op.

So tonight I had tomato and cucumber with cheese for dinner, along with apples slices and peanut butter, and it just feels so healthy after a week of having Ramen literally every night. I'm not usually that much of a fan of too much cucumber, but the one I got at the farm stand was so fresh and crisp that I finished more than half of it. It puts me in such a good mood! I feel like I should really make eating well and healthy a higher priority in my life, and I wonder how much of feeling like I don't have time/don't have resources is just an empty excuse. I think over winter break when I may have more time, I'll try to find some ways to stock up on good food.

I'm also in a good mood because I finally cleaned my apartment--it had been getting totally grungy. I feel sort of bad though, since today in my meteorology class we learnt some disturbing things about Tucson's water supply. It comes all the way from the Colorado River, because Tucson's own groundwater is almost totally exhausted. And when there is a drought, California has first dibs on the Colorado River. So basically if there's a huge water shortage (which has been a looming threat with climate change), Arizona is fucked. Which just makes me feel even worse about having to let the water run for 10 minutes if I want to do dishes in my kitchen. I think I'll start rinsing dishes really well before I put them in my sink, and then set aside one day per week for washing them so that I only have to waste the 10 minutes once per week. Or maybe I could use the water for something? 10 minutes of water is a lot, I don't know how I would use it. Oh well. It's at least nice at the moment having everything clean.

There are other positive things to post about, but I think I'll do it later when I have less else on my mind.
