Troll disguised as a bunny

Every day, without fail, the bunny somehow manages to take a hyper pill at the most inconvenient hour in the morning, jumping from one side of his ~6ft long cage to the other with the greatest velocity he can muster given the tiny space. And after jumping back and forth a few times, slamming himself into the sides of the cage for good measure, he ambles over to the edge closest to me and puts his paws up on the bars, staring straight at me with impassive yet somehow heart-wrenching bunny-eyes.

And so I let him out. Thinking, the greater space will be more convenient and comfortable if he's going to be dashing around and doing flips. And yet once outside, all he does the entire time is try to stealth his way into forbidden places, usually chewing on everything prohibited (table legs, couch, cardboard boxes, etc) along the way. No running, no jumping, no taking advantage of the time outside to do acrobatics without obligatory face-planting. Or maybe he's taking *too* much advantage of it from his perspective, I don't know.

So after about 30-45 minutes of chasing his teeth away from the upholstery, I realize that no, he's not actually going to behave and exercise. So I put him back. And within moments, the jumping and slamming commences once again. And the bunny-eyes. But I know it's all a trap and don't give in. The annoying part is that that means that he doesn't stop for awhile, and his jumping makes a huge commotion that agitates the guinea pigs and wakes everyone who happens to be sleeping in the whole house. It usually ends a few minutes later, when bunny gets tired and/or realizes that success in his brilliant plan twice in one night is kind of pushing it.

Have I mentioned this happens EVERY NIGHT? Yeah. Every night I think it will be different, but it never is. For all I know, he actually *prefers* getting exercise in his cage. And he loves trolling me. That one's for certain.

*rolls eyes*

He's obviously one helluva rascally rabbit !
If I lived in the USA I'd have to visit your zoo .

LOL it's true! We totally have a zoo on our hands here. xD

Aww, that's cute! And yes, I'm pretty convinced that some animals know we find them cute and use that to their advantage.

Oh, but if there are any exposed electrical wires in your house, you should keep a very close eye on him. I once had a hamster that broke out of her cage while we weren't looking and chewed on a lamp wire... It didn't end well. D':

Oh goodness poor hamster o.o We too have a hamster that seems to be an especially talented escape artist--he's gotten out 3 or 4 times, but luckily nothing bad has happened. (Except one time when he crawled across my boyfriend's chest while he was sleeping--he nearly got tossed against the wall by accident.) xD

I don't even know if the bunny knows that I find him cute, it's more like he knows that the point of being let out is to run around, and so if he pretends that that's what he feels like doing and begs for it (oh please won't you let me out please? Can't you see? I want to RUN!) then he's more likely to be obliged.

Tee hee manipulative animals.

I can imagine that'd be annoying if it wakes you up in the middle of the night, but it still sounds cute. xD I'm 100% positive that those heart-wrenching bunny-eyes would get me every single time, I'm such a sucker. :P

[identity profile] arrowwhiskers.livejournal.com 2012-01-19 09:10 am (UTC)(link)
Haha yeah. He's cute. I feel like the cuteness doesn't effect me quite as badly anymore, though, because of continually have to deal with the havoc he wreaks. Plus the fact that the guinea pigs are equally cute to the bunny (at least imo), infinitely more interactive, and far less naughty.

omg hahahaha he really is a troll, I love it. I mean, it sucks that he chews on things he shouldn't and wakes people up, but... I can't help but love that he's a troll. xD

Hahaah yeah no, I think it's hilarious too. xD Our bunny is weird...he's super clever in some ways but completely blank and unresponsive in others. I feel like on some level he's souless, and instead of a life, he just has a mission. And at this stage of his existence, mission = chew all the things.
