Torchwood (no spoilers)

So this afternoon I went to Elisabeth's house and spent 6 or so hours finishing the second season of Torchwood.
It's become a totally different show, in my mind. I don't think I could have managed to make myself finish it by myself...and major credit to Elisabeth for her willingness to rewatch shitty episodes so that I'd be able to see them.
There was quite a bit of facepalming, and indignant splutters drawing attention to BLATANT contradictions between facts in the first season and how they line up now. And complaints about character development and campy delivery, oh god.
Still, I do think it got better towards the end, which was promising. Even so, I feel like it's lost something vitally good and entertaining and endearing that completely embodied what it was before.
I will say though, the season finale was TIGHT. I was really pleased by what they did with it, though that may have been solely because it more than exceeded my expectations, which by that point had become abysmally low.
It's kind of frustrating that it ended so well, though, because now I feel vaguely obligated to watch the third season when it comes out. It hasn't even been filmed yet and already I'm committed to wasting more life on it.
...Lame.
