So today I discovered that the job that was basically stalking me all summer actually isn't going to hire me. THANKS A LOT, DICKS. Oh well, it's basically what I suspected, but it means that I have to be working on jobhunting, which is meh.
I went back to Target today and got some more stuff, including a water purifier since I feel weird drinking and freezing the tap that essentially comes out white. I'm still having hot water issues. According to the director of the property, the complete lack of cold water is just a fixture of Arizona living, but the lack of hot water should be looked into. Apparently it hasn't been yet, though, since actually, the water coming out of the tap right now *is* rather coldish, even when I switch it to hot. Sigh.
Still, I've basically acquired most everything I need. As soon as I get a monster bike lock and some trash cans, I think everything should be about set. I also ended up wandering out to the Tucson Mall, just to see what was there, and it was pretty impressively nice, right near the foothills of the big picturesque mountains.
Despite the trip to the mall, today I didn't end up getting on the ball about getting...any meals at all, so when 8PM rolled around and my insides were complaining, Ray and I went down to the College Place cantina to see what they might serve. It was a really preppy place with a beer tap and a screen where people were playing Mario Kart on a Wii, but they had overpriced veggie burgers on their menu and I got one. The guy who was working the tap was kind of intimidating and very...male, but then the chef came out and said that he was only the "stand-in" chef for the night, and wow...he was really nice. :0 He had really pretty eyes and he came out like 3490585 times to ask for details on our orders, and he seemed really self-conscious about the fact that he was new. Granted, I'm so alone in this place that it makes me happy when ANYONE smiles at me, but his smile in particular made me happy. And his veggieburger was pretty good. <3 The fries on the side, not so much, but eh, what can you do.
I'm starting to enjoy the heat here more rather than just dreading it, but it DOES really wear me out. I feel like no matter what menial stuff I do outside, I come back to my room feeling exhausted. I feel like every day I accomplish a lot even though I haven't. I'm not sure if I like or dislike this feeling.
