Wen went with me to Brookline today--waited patiently through my therapy, and then we went to the cool Chinese store that is still in the process of closing. While there, Wen helped me to locate a cheap gem--a calligraphy set, complete with a block of ink, a mixing spoon, some porcelain mixer cups, and six beautiful calligraphy brushes. I was at first attracted by the brushes, since I love using calligraphy brushes for watercolor--they last a lot longer and create smoother lines. When I saw, however, that the whole set was only $25, I could barely believe it, but the shopkeeper confirmed it when Wen inquired.
You can't pass it up! she told me, and I had to agree. With barely any prompting, dad obliged me in this lovely 'birthday'-present-in-advance. I can't stop looking over the brushes now--they're so smooth and prettyful; and there are 6 of them! I don't need even half that many. If you're an artist and you go to my school and you have need of a gorgeous calligraphy brush, ask me and I might be willing to share one with you.
Katie also gave me a birthday present today. o.O It was a sort of oversized, semi-transparent shirt that was a kind of lackluster grayish pink color, but it had shiny stripes and a little tie in front. I wore it for most of the afternoon until my appointment..and it was really nice of Katie to think of me like that. ^_^ Thank you Kay-chan. I shall wear it more as the weather becomes more amiable~
Blerh, beyond that...nothing to say. Homework to do--and I think I'm going to watch Desperado.
