Stories, when repeated over and over ad nauseam, quickly lose their initial sting, their appeal, their urgency. It happens in everything; with children getting accustomed to gore in their video games...they even have a popular folk tale about it-- the boy who cried wolf. He spoke unecessarily so many times that when something actually happened, nobody could be bothered to listen to him.
So I suppose the words "I haven't been this sick in a long time" don't really mean much, coming from me. They don't even mean much -to- me, coming from me. >.> But eh, I thought I'd throw it out there.
This morning I was actually all set to go to school, too. With nothing apparently working against me except a minimal night's sleep and an icky cough, I was determined to forge bravely through the day so I could take the National French Exam. I had told Mme. Lahey I would, something which, in retrospect, I feel kinda rotten about. Anyway, I had my coat and shoes on and everything, and I was waiting somewhat impatiently for mom to gather all of her shit together so we wouldn't be late (we already kinda were). As I waited, I became increasingly lightheaded, and my insides felt increasingly more like boiling goop. The sensation hightened to the point where by the time mom actually WAS nearly ready, it was rather clear to me that getting in the car wouldn't be a good idea. I lurched upstairs, dumped my bag, and felt my vision bubble and darken as I fell into bed. I lay there, panting for a few moments, feeling sweat start to bead up gently on my skin. Mom was still scurrying around downstairs, and I sat up, to ask her some question I no longer remember, and then I either fell asleep, or fainted.
Under the circumstances, I think the latter is a little more likely. I came to a couple hours later and not a lot had changed.
I think this one is a real cold though. Which means I'll actually get better >.> *fingers crossed*
I don't see myself being able to go to school tomorrow unless something nice happens though, which means, in all likelyhood, I won't be taking the national Latin exam either. Le sigh.
