I wrote a little poem
Jul. 1st, 2010 01:24 amInspired by recent events in Mexico.
El Viento Afuera
El viento que le hizo caer
A ese hombre
Está haciendo marchitar
La flor de la justicia
Tal vez se puede salvar
Con la regadera que está
De lado en la hierba
Afuera de la casa.
Tal vez alguien podría
Regar esta florecita tan frágil
Si hoy el viento no soplara tanto
Que les impulsara quedarse adentro
Y cerrar las persianas
Para no tener que ver
Cuando el viento arranque la flor
Y la lleve lejos con la brisa.
( NOT a literal/faithful translation )
Life through illness and uncertainty continues to be a challenge, but it's nothing that can't be overcome. The hardest part is not knowing what's going to come next, and assuming the worst--that things won't get better or may in fact deteriorate further. But it's important to remember that things will not always be exactly how they are at this moment. And why assume they'll be worse? This is not just for me, this is for everyone I know who is having a hard time.
Hang in there. I know you can make it, we'll make it together. The world has awesomeness in store for us yet. :)
